Tuesday October 1st, 2024. The Hutto Police are asking citizens to plan to get out and meet their neighbors on the upcoming National Night Out!

If you are having a neighborhood party the police would like for you to register the event so they can attend.

“This annual nationwide tradition is a great way to get involved in your community by meeting your neighbors and members of the Hutto Police Department!”

Knowing your neighbors helps keep Hutto safe! So, start planning and don’t forget to invite the police by registering your event.

“On the first Tuesday in October, neighborhoods throughout Hutto join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.

“National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Hutto Police Department, will involve over 16 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.

“In all, over 38 million people are expected to participate in America’s Night Out Against Crime.

“Event Goals

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized

“Building Community

“Although NNO is a one day/night of the year event, neighbors repeatedly report that the neighbors they meet that day help to build stronger neighborhoods throughout the year.

“The relationships enable them to stay connected to one another, and help to encourage dialogue between each other so if they see or hear activities, they inform each other.

“Citizens of Hutto play a vital role in assisting the Hutto Police Department through joint crime, drug and violence prevention efforts in the City of Hutto.

“It is essential that all citizens be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and the impact their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in Hutto.”
